Nintendo Direct January 14th 2015 – Loads of dates and stuff announced

Today Nintendo announced a load of stuff for America and Europe in something called Nintendo Direct, a presentation that is basically a pre-rendered video streamed from their website.

Here is a very basic overview of what they announced:

Note: Anything in dollars will probably be the same price in Euros and Pounds because no one pays attention to exchange rates, also the dates for Europe are exactly the same.

The New Nintendo variants

New 3DS XL coming to the U.S.A., but no New 3DS 

—February 13 for $199 – doesn’t come with a power cable
—2 launch bundles: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate & Majora’s Mask

— Europe DO get the New Nintendo 3DS, however.

Splatoon
—coming May 2015

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
—release exclusively on the New Ninetendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DSXL consoles on April 2nd.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Nintendo’s first crossbuy game
—This means if you purchase the game on Wii U, you’ll receive a download code for the 3DS version and vice versa.
—releasing on March 5th

Codename S.T.E.A.M.

— Will arrive on the 3DS and New 3DS on March 13th

— The New 3DS will supposedly have “enhanced features”

Downloadable Wii games on Wii U eShop
—Super Mario Galaxy 2 (available now)
—Punch Out (January 22nd)
—Metroid Prime Trilogy (January 29th)
—All will be on sale for one week for $9.99, and $19.99 afterwards.

Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask release date

—February 13th

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate release date

— February 13th as well!

Stream Anime from your Wii U

— Crunchy Roll app will be downloadable on your Wii U.

Mario Party 10
— March 20th.
— Mario Party 10 bundles, which will include a Mario amiibo from the Super Mario Bros line.
— Will be bringing the new “Amiibo party mode” and Wave 4 Amiibos will be compatible.

New Fire Emblem Announced (!)
— Working title is “The Latest Title in the Fire Emblem Series.

— Reportedly the game-play will be “completely new”
New Amiibo & Support
— Support coming to Super Smash Bros on New Nintendo 3DS XL
— Wave 4: Pacman, Charizard, Lucina, Robin, Ness, and Wario (Some point this spring)
— March 20th: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi & Toad (all will be compatible with Mario Party 10 and Toad with Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker)

Seems like 2015 will be an interesting year for Nintendo. Admittedly there aren’t any huge surprises (at least, no good ones…participially for America) as Nintendo typically save their huge announcements for E3 but it is nice to know a load of cool shit is coming so soon.
