BENEDICT Cumberbatch has been reportedly cast as Doctor Stephen Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to Deadline the Sherlock actor is the studios firm choice for the part, ahead of big names such as Tom Hardy and Joaquin Phoenix. While it is unlikely the character will appear in the next release, Avengers: Age of Ultron, a feature film is expected to be released mid-2016. While the studio has not commented directly as of yet, numerous sources are reporting Cumberbatch’s casting.
Doctor Strange is a neurosurgeon who gains control over the mystical arts, and is one of the universe’s most prominent magical characters. Named dropped in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of such an exciting character. Only time will tell as to who will portray him.
