DURING a Q&A at Animagic 2014 (considered Germany’s biggest anime convention) George Wade, the president of Wit Studio confirmed that, yes, Attack on Titan‘s second season is in pre-production.
The news comes as no surprise since the anime series hit the height of anime popularity both in the east and the west, reaching a worldwide audience and cult status. Many fans have still been waiting for the studio to confirm the second season however, and since the false rumours that production was starting in July of this year, this is certainly news to lift their spirits.
So why announce the news at Germany’s biggest convention? The team behind SnK have stated that they took inspiration from Germany, although they had to refer to pictures as they were faced with a limited budget. Hajime Isayama, the creator of the manga series, also stated that he took inspiration from Spider-Man and Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim.
No information as to a release date has been disclosed so far, only that the studio are in pre-production.
