Anime tends to get a bad stigma, despite it’s ever growing popularity and constant exposure on the internet it still remains a niche medium (hence niche corner). Many people consider it to be for children only, yet never realise there are as many genres and topics available as western television. While some fans and many series don’t help themselves in shaking the negative imagery associated with the medium, audiences risk missing out on some ground-breaking cinema.
The popular Youtube critic Chris Stuckmann, a movie reviewer and avid anime fan himself, took to his channel to discuss why Japanese animation is not only important to cinema but as a story telling device. He also recommends titles for newcomers.
Chris starts his anime reviews with Wolf Children, which you can watch here.
